The skiing and snowboarding season started with a lot of momentum in Golden this year. All of the usual crew shuffled back into town plus a bunch of new, passionate, young Christians. By the end of November we had the biggest group of ripping Christians since SFC started in Golden. Tessa Parry had a plan to start a young adults church, which we did in January, it was probably the most rewarding thing we have ever done as a group. We started it all off with a Dodge Ball tournament and then each week after that had a short service with live music and a different speaker every time. We held it on Sunday nights for the next eight weeks, we called it The Challenge and it was heaps of fun. A few new faces showed up every week but I believe the best thing was that everyone who helped organize it grew much closer as a group and we became more focused on serving and seeking. It was a busy winter in Golden, we raised money for Riders Aid, shredded hard, put on The Challenge, went to church, had Bible studies, and some of us even played around on plastic snurfurs.
Now that the snow and that whole lifestyle has melted and the dirt sports are back in season, I have to take the time to reflect on last winter and to pray about the summer ahead of us. I find myself in a really good heart space, thank full for everything God has done for us this winter and full of hope for what he has planned in the new season. I know that when I trust in God that good things will happen because God is good and how blessed we are to be the people of a loving, caring, good God. Thank you God and may all of us skiers and snowboarders find the time to spend with you this summer so that we can learn to love and trust you more than ever. Amen
