On Dec 30th, 2006 SFC Fernie hosted their first ever Dodgeball tournament. With 12 teams registered and excitement all over town it was shaping up to be an epic evening. When We Will Rock You started pumping out of the speakers in was on.
After the first round of play the teams that lost were allocated to the back door pool for a long shot to get back into the championship. That is where Ian Linde and friends found themselves. They battled hard in every match and made it back into the semi-finals. In true underdog fashion they continued to pull out miraculous victories. In the championship match they came up against Remember Frank White, the undefeated powerhouse from Kelowna. After numerous athletic maneuvers it was down to one player from each team. Strapping and stunning Tim from Kelowna, versus spry and shifty LJ from Fernie. They exchanged a couple volleys until Tim heaved his final effort and LJ gracefully caught the ball to end the game and win the championship!!!
The entire building broke into cheers as her team swept onto the court and carried her off on their shoulders. It was a night to remember!
Congratulations to the Hezbollah on their win, to Remember Frank White for their great play and to Long John Silver for having the best costumes.
